About Me

Sierra Club ARES

ARRL

My name is Cody Brannon. I am a general class amateur radio (ham) operator. My call sign is KE5LGG. I got my tech ticket in 2006 and upgraded to general shortly after. I have always been interested in radio, communications, and electronics. I was once big into CB and enjoyed the ability to talk to people, sometimes catch a little DX. I was however getting tired of all the trash. That is when i was introduced to amateur radio. I am glad I got into ham radio. I enjoy the people, the challenge, and the ability to help when needed.

I have met a lot of people through ham radio that I would most likely not meet otherwise. I have had the opportunity to participate in events that I wouldn’t even know existed if it wasn’t for amateur radio.
I am a member of ARRL, RACES, Texas VHF-FM, SATERN, CCARES, Sierra club, among other things.
It doesn’t take much to get your amateur radio license, and I know you will be glad you did. You not only get a chance to meet and talk to people from all walks of life and from all over the world, you also get the opportunity to help in times of need.

Ham radio isn’t my only hobby, I enjoy: fishing, hunting, camping, hiking, playing pool, designing websites, building computers, climbing towers (installing antennas), and much more.

Remember. When all else fails, Ham Radio Prevails

I have lived around Abilene, TX most of my life. I grew up on a ranch north of Abilene, TX and was a firefighter for the Hamby VFD.
I now live in Lavon, TX which is just east of Plano, TX.

I have worked in the wireless industry for several years in various fields such as: wireless ISP, microwave, cell phone, two-way radio, and amateur radio. I have been involved in the design, installation and maintenance of equipment on the ground and on the tower. I have been climbing for several years and am a certified climber. I currently work for Amchel Communications doing primarily tower equipment instillations.
